This is your complete guide to following the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025: schedule, teams, impact of the tournament and essential tips for those who want to bet in an informed and responsible way.
What is the ICC Women's World Cup?
The ICC Women's World Cup is the oldest and most prestigious tournament in international women's cricket. The first edition was held in 1973 in England, two years before the men's version, and since then it has become the stage where the best teams in the world measure forces.
The competition is played in the One Day International (ODI) format, in which the teams face each other in a cricket match lasting several hours and fifty overs. The team that wins the tournament takes the title of world champion.
Today, the ICC Women's World Cup is a symbol of the evolution and affirmation of women's cricket on the global stage.

- India and Sri Lanka as hosts
For the first time two countries are organising and hosting the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. This is the first time Sri Lanka has hosted this tournament and for India it's the fourth.
India has huge stadiums ready to host the event, an unrivalled fan culture and media reach. Sri Lanka offers an impartial ground for politically sensitive matches, while at the same time it is a country with a long cricketing legacy.
The inclusion of Sri Lanka allows Pakistan to take part in the competition, due to diplomatic tensions with India. Pakistan's matches have therefore been relocated to Colombo, avoiding geopolitical tensions.
- When does it take place?
The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 starts on 30 September and runs until 2 November 2025.
Lasting just over a month, this tournament will be very intense, with very close matches and little recovery time for the players.
- Stadiums
The stadiums were chosen by the organisation to combine tradition and expansion. A total of five different cities will host matches.
In India
Holkar Stadium (Indore): will host ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 matches for the first time.
ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam): Known for its atmosphere and lively cheerleaders.
Assam Cricket Association Stadium (Guwahati): Represents the north-east, a region not well represented at previous ICC events.
M. Chinnaswamy or alternative stadium (Bangalore): Initially chosen for the most important matches.

In Sri Lanka
R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo): The venue for neutral matches, especially those in which Pakistan play.
Colombo Cricket Club Ground (Colombo): Historic venue, where the event's warm-up matches will take place.
- Format and Structure
The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 pits the eight best women's cricket teams in the world against each other to determine the world champion.
The tournament is played over two phases. It begins with a group stage in which all the teams play each other once, earning points for a win or a draw. Then the four best teams move on to the knockout stage.
In the knockout phase, the four best teams play two semi-finals, and the two winners meet in the final.
Unlike formats with several groups, this model guarantees greater fairness, as all the teams face the same opponents.
The teams will also play two warm-up matches each, starting on 24 September.

- Consider the home factor and ground conditions
The competition will be in India, a country where the warm climate and pitches tend to favour spin bowlers. Some Asian teams, for example, have more experience in these conditions than teams from colder climates. Betting taking into account the type of pitch and stadium can increase your chances.
- Follow players in the spotlight
